The Basic Rules of Blackjack

Blackjack is a very old and traditional game that can be played at either an online casino or a traditional land based casino. In this example there will be one player playing against the dealer, which is also called the house. Players are dealt two cards face up and the dealer is dealt two cards – one of which is face up and the other face down. If the players cards add up to a sum of twenty one then the player automatically wins and that hand is over. The way that a player can get 21 is by getting any ace as well as any face card or any 10.

Similarly, if the dealer shows an ace or a face card or ten then insurance is offered to the player (insurance is a bet that you take if you believe that the other card that is face down for the dealer will make a 21 for dealer, most do not recommend to take insurance). The dealer then continues to check the small mirror to see if they have made twenty one and if they haven’t the game continues.

You can then select to hit or stay. Depending on what you have and what the dealer has you will make this decision. If you have something that adds up to 17,18,19, or 20 it is recommend that you stay. If you have 16 or less it recommended that you hit, however, if you have between 12-16 and the dealer is showing a 2-6 then you can stay in hopes of the dealer busting out. If you have a 11 then it is almost always recommended that you double down in the hopes of getting a 10 and winning with a 21.
